OUR BHIS SPECIALISTS WORK HAND-IN-HAND WITH THERAPISTS TO ADDRESS INDIVIDUAL CLIENT NEEDS TO PROMOTE HEALTHY CHILD AND FAMILY FUNCTIONING
WHAT IS BHIS?
BHIS is a voluntary program offered to help families and children manage mental health challenges, healthy choices, and social issues at home and in the community. Services are provided in the home on a weekly basis, sometimes more often if needed. This allows children and families to learn and apply skills in their natural setting. Areas addressed include communication, conflict resolution, social skills, and emotional coping.
IS MY CHILD ELIGIBLE FOR BHIS?
Clients eligible for BHIS must meet the following criteria:
Children must be between the ages of 3 and 21
Meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis (child must be assessed if not currently diagnosed)
BHIS CAN HELP WITH:
Daily living/life skills
Poor listening/communication skills
Difficulty following instructions
Defiant or oppositional behaviors
Poor social skills
Mood management (anxiety, depression)
WHO IS INVOLVED IN BHIS?
Providers work toward improving the entire family's overall quality of life, focusing on improving communication, how to manage behaviors and building stronger and healthier relationships. To do so, providers work not only with the individual child, but the entire family to make lasting changes.
DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BE IN THERAPY?
BHIS services are intended to improve skills and supplement what your child may be doing in therapy.
This program will be most effective when done in conjunction with therapy services.
